Why I'm Running

We’ve Talked Long Enough — Now It’s Time to Fix What’s Broken

Minnesotans are ready for actual solutions... and so am I!

Hi, I’m Peggy Bennett, former elementary school teacher of thirty-three years and current sixth-term state representative in the Minnesota House of Representatives. I love my job in the legislature (well, most of it!) because I love serving people.  But I have gotten very frustrated.

Because of the great divide, we just go on and on spinning our wheels and playing politics. We’ve hardly gotten anything done.  The issues I wrote about in my first term – nursing homes, education, crumbling roads, childcare, and more – are the same issues I’m writing about now almost 12 years later.  As a matter of fact, they’ve gotten worse! It’s like we have these gaping wounds and all we’re doing is injecting a little anesthetic around the edges but never fixing them.

It’s time to stop the nonsense and start fixing things. Many legislators on both sides of the aisle have had enough are quitting because of the adversarial nature of the legislature – the backroom deals, name calling, and many not open to ideas.

Solving Problems, Not Playing Politics

Putting truth, teamwork, and results ahead of political games

I was a fixer for my entire thirty-three-year career as an elementary school teacher. It was my job to find solutions and fix problems, whether it was a student who couldn’t read, discipline problems, parents who needed help, fights on the playground, or teachers who needed technology help. I was good at it.

I want to take my fix-it skills to the head position of this state and start solving problems for Minnesota instead of just giving political spin on how “wonderful” we’re doing. People deserve the truth, and they deserve a government that will get the work done, work together, and start fixing problems.

No one has to compromise on their principles, but there are areas where we can find agreement and start getting to work and get some real fixing done. Bringing people together is what a true leader will do.

In 2026, I will have been a state representative for twelve years.  I have loved this job serving people, but I’ve always believed in term limits. This position was never meant to be a career. I’m going to stand on my principles and retire at the end of this term. But I’m not finished yet – not by a longshot.

Fixing Minnesota Starts Now

I am Peggy Bennett.  I’m running to be the next governor of Minnesota. It’s time to stop nonsense, put people before politics, and get to work fixing things. Let’s go!
